On Wednesday, March 27, 2013, Attorney Todd Bennett spoke at the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) seminar entitled, “Litigating Wage and Hour Cases.”  Also speaking on the panel with Attorney Bennett were Attorneys Jeffrey Rosin from Constangy, Brooks & Smith, LLP and Patrick Bannon from Seyfarth Shaw, LLP.

Attorney Bennett discussed the Payment of Wages Act (Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Sections 148-150), various aspects of prosecuting, defending, and settling Massachusetts Wage Act claims, consequences for failure to comply with the Payment of Wages Act, issues concerning prevailing wages (M.G.L. c.149, Sections 26-27), record keeping requirements for employers, overtime and minimum wage laws under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and M.G.L. c.151, Sections 1A and 1B, statutes of limitations for wage and hour claims, and issues relating to enforcement by the Attorney General of Massachusetts of wage and hour violations (M.G.L. c.149, Section 27C).

Other topics discussed at the “Litigating Wage and Hour Cases” seminar included, misclassification of employees, class actions, Attorney General investigations, and arbitration of wage claims.  The seminar was live and broadcast via webinar.
